Judson's Pavilion
Capstan were successful in securing this project following the submission of a cost effective design proposal aligned with the client’s budget. The works were funded through a Football Association Grass Roots grant, enabling the local council to extend the existing pavilion and fully refurbish the changing room facilities.
Internal Works
The internal refurbishment included the installation of new Altro vinyl flooring throughout, formation and infill of openings within existing blockwork, and construction of new internal partitions. A high specification kitchen was installed complete with an external serving hatch, alongside a new activity room with TV facilities. Further works included new PVCu doors and windows, full redecoration, and the complete renewal of the changing rooms with new showers and bench seating. Capstan also designed and installed a new mechanical and electrical system, carefully integrated with the existing services to avoid the need for a major infrastructure upgrade.
External Works
Externally, Capstan designed and installed a new roof and delivered a range of civil and landscaping works. These included new concrete hardstanding for parking, porous pathways around the building, two new soakaways, a new inspection chamber and manhole cover, and a porous car park for pavilion users. Access to the playing field was improved through the installation of two bespoke gates for maintenance and emergency vehicles, with a timber birds-mouth style fence installed around the perimeter to complete the scheme.
The completed works have delivered a modern, functional, and durable community sports facility, providing long-term value for users while remaining within the constraints of grant funding.
