WHIPPS CROSS HOSPITAL

The Objective:

Refurbishment of Wards of Whipps Cross Hospital, including Passive Fire Protection (fire doors and penetration sealing), new partitions, upgrading kitchens, converting bathrooms to wet rooms, painting, installing new floors.

Challenges:

Our programme of works had to be carefully planned throughout the refurbishment of the 5 wards, so the hospital teams were able to vacate the wards ready to be upgraded.

Due to working in a live environment we were restricted on the times we could complete noisy works and for how long, this took carefully planning to coordinate works around these restrictions.

Working in an hospital environment meant many of the materials needed to complete the job, needed to be ordered from specialist suppliers, with some items coming from Germany we needed to take the extra lead time into account as well, which at one point held us up on the project, but our contracts manager was able to reorganise the works to ensure we completed each ward within the given time.

Total cost: £75,000.00 per ward

Project length: 6 Weeks per ward - 5 wards completed
